One morning in August, they awoke only to find that their underage daughter was gone.
They searched for her everywhere but could not find her.
Then they discovered a message under her pillow:
‘I have eloped with a man twice my age.’
The mother fainted. The father fetched an axe.

I’ve always loved beautiful writing and this one is definitely going on the list. With a mere five sentences, you’ve got me hooked, set the scene and got the imagination running. Fabulous!
