One morning in August, they awoke only to find that their underage daughter was gone.
They searched for her everywhere but could not find her.
Then they discovered a message under her pillow:
‘I have eloped with a man twice my age.’
The mother fainted. The father fetched an axe.

I write as a way of life: stories, blogs, articles, almost-poems. I'm a freelancer, a vegetarian, and I listen to Leonard Cohen and enjoy French films. We are dying a little more with each new day we live, so shouldn't we make the most of our time?

This is great. I want to read more! Especially about the father with the axe…
The father is always ready with the axe. 🙂
great story, but I love the image above even more.
I wonder why she’d mention that the man was twice her age? I think I’d have been mum on that point… 😀
simple but great! reasonable though 😛
Normally she wouldn’t. But I think the fact that she does makes the father pick up the axe. 🙂
I’ve always loved beautiful writing and this one is definitely going on the list. With a mere five sentences, you’ve got me hooked, set the scene and got the imagination running. Fabulous!
In brevity there’s so much to gleam, a simple wonder how a few words can be enough. I love the fifty word approach of storytelling!
🙂 Miss Jellybean.
I wish there was more to read. (:
