There comes a time in every blogger’s life when posts grow scarce and you may think about closing your blog. Maybe you don’t have time to blog anymore. Or blogging fatigue creeps in. Or other ventures draw you away from your blog. Or you feel the need to withdraw from the world and stop writing about your life.
In other words, blogging may start to feel like a chore.
But you should think twice before quitting. Even if you post less, even if you take some off blogging, you don’t have to give up.
Here are some reasons to keep on at it.
1
It’s a good writing exercise. Whether you post every day or once a month, blogging helps to train your writing muscles.
2
It keeps you connected to people.
3
Your passion for blogging may reignite later on. If you keep your blog, you won’t have to start from scratch all over again.
4
Your blog can look good on your CV. If you update it at least now and then, that is.
5
It’s good to have a quiet corner of the internet you can retreat to when you need a break from social media.
6
Blogging can help you clear your thoughts. Sharing what you think with your readers invites interesting conversations. You may even get good advice.
7
Blogging isn’t all that demanding. A quick post now and then can be enough to keep your following. If it’s a useful post. If it’s authentic.
So, keep on at it!
I cannot disagree with any of it. While every point is relatable, I think no. 1 is the main reason why I keep doing this.
Did you write this to remind yourself why YOU write?
Yes, Goldie, to remind myself why I blog. I write because I cannot help it.
Thanks for the good advice.
