‘Why can’t we be lovers?’ he asked her.

‘I’m handsome, I’m rich, I’m kind.’

‘I can’t,’ she said, ‘I just can’t.’

He sighed and gazed at her sadly.

Then it struck him.

‘You mean oranges are not the only fruit?!’ he asked, ‘Two cherries share the same stalk?!’

She blushed.

  1. BTW, I don’t know how much time you spend on each of these — maybe it comes naturally by now — but I think this is a brilliant idea as a writing exercise, and I enjoy them very much. I just wish I had the discipline to do it myself. :>

    1. I need about 10-15 minutes to write one, but I usually need to wait for the flash of inspiration.

      Sometimes I spend more time finding an appropriate painting to go with the story. 😛
