Jean Gabriel Domergue was a French portrait painter who used for his subjects Parisian women.

Domergue is regarded as the inventor of the pin-up.

‘Domergue died 16 November 1962 on a Paris sidewalk.’

I write as a way of life: stories, blogs, articles, almost-poems. I'm a freelancer, a vegetarian, and I listen to Leonard Cohen and enjoy French films. We are dying a little more with each new day we live, so shouldn't we make the most of our time?

Did he die face up or face down? For his sake, hope it was face up (although, those self-absorbed women with the “mean” faces may disagree).
Maybe he died with his face to one side. 🙂
It’s easy to see why he earned the inventor of the pin-up photos. Pretty paintings well done, thanks for sharing.
I don’t know much about the pin-up, but I like these portraits much. 🙂
Women in Paris must not have had enough to eat.
Haha!
Vinny! These are not suitable for my eyes! You have sullied my soul forever?!?!?!?
I bet my hat you’re not too innocent… 😉
These are beautiful! Thank you for the intro to Mr. Domergues’ lovely portraits!

I tip my hat. 🙂
As an artist I admire the paintings; but too, some of these ladies surely are Barbie prototypes
There was no such thing as Barbie when these portraits were painted. 🙂
Precisely, They served as inspiration.
Beautiful!
