She awoke in the night with a great thirst and went to the kitchen. In the dark she found a bottle and drank from it. The drink had a funny taste.
She turned on the light and read the label on the bottle: liquid soap.
She was startled she was!

I write as a way of life: stories, blogs, articles, almost-poems. I'm a freelancer, a vegetarian, and I listen to Leonard Cohen and enjoy French films. We are dying a little more with each new day we live, so shouldn't we make the most of our time?

Yuk! This reminded me of when I was dreaming about eating a candy mushroom – here they are pink and white and a bit like marshmallow – and then I woke up and realised that I was chewing an earplug!!
I hope you don’t have waxy ears!
I think I like gabrielablandy’s comment more than the story itself! 😛
I don’t mind, since I like you both, Julie and Gabriela!
I am sure she was.
Not as bad as drinking a soda you just used as an ashtray.
Why do I have the feeling you speak from a personal experience?
I like the TRUENESS of the story but ashes in a can is not the worst thing I have accidently drunk in the past. this so happens to have occurred tis week.
Awesome. And the earplug comment made me lol
Yes, Gabriela is British, therefore she is peculiar!
Mmmm – sort of oral enema?
A good story with a funny twist… I like it! 🙂 I can’t wait to read your 100th 50 word tale!
startled but cleansed
No matter how thirsty I get in the middle of the night, I’ll be sure to turn on the light first 😉
Or light a candle. 🙂
