Emily baked a cake for Annie, and it took her three hours. When she wanted to put the cake in the pantry, she tripped over the cat, and the cake licked the floor. After a moment of hesitation, Emily put the cake back on the plate, as if nothing had happened.

The castle  had fallen, and the attackers poured in. The keep was soon on fire. Seeing it burn, the princess in the tower knew her parents had been slain. She opened the window and climbed on the windowsill. She waited until she heard footsteps on the staircase. Then she jumped.

The drunken student wrote two letters. The first, romantic and amorous, was to his sweetheart in the village. The second, ribald and shameless, to his mistress in the town. Through an oversight he never forgave himself for, he mixed them up, sending the wrong letter to the wrong girl.
